EVENT OVERVIEW
The Biggest Little Shootout is a 3-gun charity competition that welcomes participants of all experience levels. The event features a 3-gun competition (rifle, shotgun, and pistol), a .22LR side shoot, team and individual divisions, and prizes for top performers. All proceeds from this event support the Reno Rodeo Foundation’s mission to provide resources and support to children in Northern Nevada with extraordinary needs.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
8:30 AM – 9:30 AM: Registration and Firearm Check-In
9:30 AM – 10:00 AM: Mandatory Safety Briefing10:00 AM: Competition Begins
11:00 AM – 3:00 PM: Mini Cornhole Tournament (runs during the competition; players will be called when they have downtime)
3:00–4:30 PM (estimated): Awards Ceremony and Cleanup
SHOOTING EVENTS
3-Gun Competition
Participants will rotate through multiple stages using rifles, shotguns, and pistols. Each stage is designed to test a combination of speed, precision, and adaptability.
.22LR Side Shoot
A separate, family-friendly competition that allows shooters to engage steel targets with .22LR firearms. It is designed to be both fun and competitive for all ages and experience levels.
REGISTRATION AND PARTICIPATION
Who can register?
Shooting participants must be age 12 or older. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Spectators of all ages are welcome and activities for all ages will be offered.
Can I register as an individual or as part of a team?
Yes. Registration is open to both individuals and teams.
What experience levels are supported?
As a training-focused academy, Nevada Firearms Academy welcomes participants of all experience levels. However, they reserve the right to assess and determine eligibility if an individual is unable to demonstrate compliance with safety protocols or required competencies.
For this tournament, the shooting divisions will be:
- Novice
- Expert
- .22LR Side Shoot
What is included with registration?
- Entry to the competition - wristband/badge
- Ammunition (see below for details)
- Use of event-supplied firearms (if needed)
- Safety briefing and range orientation
- Breakfast, lunch, and non-alcoholic beverages
- Access to The Draw (cigar lounge) featuring complimentary premium cigars provided by Luxury Cigar Club
- One raffle entry to win 2 - 15 day punch cards ($300 value) for Nevada Firearms Academy
- Once finished shooting, if over 21, entrance into The Dusty Pour
What ammunition will be provided?
The following calibers will be provided: .22LR, 9mm, 12 gauge, and 20 gauge. Shooters who wish to bring firearms in other calibers are required to bring or purchase their own ammunition from the range, with a minimum of 100 rounds per firearm. Ammunition may be subject to availability and must be approved by range staff.
What is the check-in process?
Check-in runs from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM. All personal firearms must be presented at the firearm inspection station upon arrival. Colored chamber flags will be issued for all inspected firearms. Participants will proceed to registration to collect their materials and instructions
Will there be shooter squads?
Squad assignments will be made on-site based on day-of decision-making and shooter preferences.
Is there a zeroing area?
Participants with confirmed registrations may visit the public shooting line at the range up to a week before the event for sighting in. Day-of sighting will also be available. Please present proof of registration to staff upon arrival.
GEAR AND EQUIPMENT
Can I bring my own firearms?
Yes. All personal firearms must be presented unloaded at check-in and inspected for safety. Colored chamber flags will be issued and must remain in place when firearms are not in use.
Is gear such as holsters or mag pouches required?
No, but it is encouraged. Firearms must be locked and visibly safe upon arrival. Holsters and mag pouches are optional but recommended for participants seeking the best scores and competitive experience.
Are optics or firearm modifications allowed?
Yes. Optics and other common modifications are allowed.
Will eye and ear protection be provided?
Yes. A limited supply of eye and ear protection will be available for participants and spectators who do not have their own.
SCORING
Scoring Methodology
This tournament will be scored using a hit-factor scoring system that rewards both accuracy and speed. Points are awarded per target type, and time penalties are assessed for missed targets.
Scoring Breakdown
- Rifle Targets: Points vary based on distance and difficulty
- Shotgun Targets: Points awarded for successful hits on clays or steel
- Pistol Targets: Points awarded for hits on paper or steel targets
- Stage Completion Time: Factored into the final score
- Time Penalties: 3 seconds per missed target

- Combined shooting time + total time penalties
- Rankings are based on total time (including penalties) — higher points and faster times result in better rankings.

SAFETY
Safety Briefing
All participants must attend the mandatory safety briefing from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM.
Range Safety Officers (RSOs)
Trained RSOs will be present at all shooting bays to monitor safety and enforce protocols.
Medical Support
Emergency medical personnel will be on site. A first-aid station will be located near the registration area.
Emergency Communication
In case of emergency, dial 911. Staff and RSOs will have radios for direct coordination with on-site emergency personnel.
SPECTATORS
Spectators are welcome and encouraged to join the fun! For safety, all spectators must remain in designated viewing areas while on the range. General access to the event is complimentary, and a variety of both free and paid activities will be available throughout the day. For those looking to enjoy everything the event has to offer, All-Access Spectator Passes will be available for purchase. TThese passes include all donation-based activities, coffee, pastries, lunch, dessert vouchers, and unlimited non-alcoholic beverages and, for those over 21, entrance into The Dusty Pour and The Draw.
PET POLICY
Only service animals are allowed on site.
AMENITIES
Is there a fee for parking?
No. Parking is free for all attendees and spectators.
Are restrooms available?
Yes. Outdoor restroom facilities will be available throughout the range.
Will there be shaded areas and seating?
A limited number of tents, canopies, tables, and chairs will be set up for both participants and spectators.
FOOD AND BEVERAGE
Will food be available?
Yes. Food trucks will be on-site throughout the day offering a variety of meal options. Full list available HERE.
Do registered shooters receive meals?
Yes. All registered shooters will receive coffee, pastries, lunch, dessert vouchers, and unlimited non-alcoholic beverages.
Will drinks be available for spectators and vendors?
Yes. Non-alcoholic beverages are included with All-Access Spectator Passes and available for purchase for general spectators.
Is alcohol allowed at the event?
Alcohol will not be available for sale at the event, but we’re excited to offer a special 21+ wristband-only tasting area featuring a handpicked selection of local distillers, brewers, and beverage artisans. This is your chance to sip, sample, and meet the makers behind some of Northern Nevada’s most creative beverages — all while supporting the Reno Rodeo Foundation. All attendees are asked to drink responsibly. IMPORTANT FOR SHOOTERS: To ensure everyone’s safety, shooters may only enter the tasting tent after they’ve finished all shooting activities for the day. Once you’ve accessed the tasting area, you will not be permitted to return to the range.
ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES
In addition to the exciting 3-Gun and .22LR shooting competitions, attendees can enjoy a variety of fun and engaging activities throughout the day. These experiences are open to all guests—participants, spectators, and families alike.
Mini Corn Hole Tournament
Whether you’re a seasoned player or tossing for the first time, this additional activity offers a fun and spirited way to support the Reno Rodeo Foundation.
- The entry fee for this tournament will be $20 per person or $30 per two-person team. Entry to the Mini Cornhole Tournament is included with Shooter and All-Access Spectator registrations (must be pre-registered)
- Participants may compete solo or as part of a two-person team.
- Format includes round-robin play with top teams advancing to finals.
- Prizes—including custom challenge coins—will be awarded to the winning team.
- Two regulation-style corn hole sets will be available for continuous play throughout the day.
- Space is limited—pre-registration is highly encouraged.
Silent Auction
Browse a selection of items and experiences donated by generous community partners. Auction items will be displayed near the central event area and bidding will remain open throughout the day.
Choice Raffle
Place your raffle tickets toward the specific prizes you’d like to win in our Choice Raffle. Drawings will take place during the awards ceremony. Must be present to win. Tickets are available during registration and on-site at the event.
Vendor Booths
Explore booths hosted by local businesses and community organizations offering a selection of products, services, and resources. Vendors will be located near the main event area and open throughout the day.
Carnival Games
Fun for all ages! Our carnival-style games provide a lighthearted way for families and non-shooters to participate in the day’s festivities. Play to win small prizes.
The Draw
Experience our exclusive cigar lounge, a relaxed retreat where shooters and spectators can unwind and enjoy complimentary premium cigars courtesy of Luxury Cigar Club. Whether you're a seasoned aficionado or just curious, The Draw invites you to connect with fellow attendees and savor a slower pace between the day's high-energy events.
The Dusty Pour
Explore a one-of-a-kind tasting experience exclusively for our 21+ guests. This wristband-only area offers a curated lineup of local distillers, brewers, and beverage artisans — all ready to pour, share, and celebrate their craft with you. Enjoy generous samples, chat with the makers, and discover new favorites as you unwind from the action on the range.
Important Note for Shooters: Shooters may access The Dusty Pour only after completing all shooting activities for the day. Once inside the tasting tent, they will not be permitted to return to the range or continue participating in the competition.
Wristband access is included with all-access spectator passes and shooter registrations. Additional 21+ guests may enter by making a set donation (TBD) to the Reno Rodeo Foundation. All attendees are asked to drink responsibly.
