The following year, we created a team on the day Mario was going into the hospital for a nasal cauterization.  At 5 years old he determined to raise $1,000 for the hemophilia center in order to help other patients.  As his mom, I was very nervous.  However, he succeeded in his fundraising goals and had a team of 14 people to walk. 

The fire was ignited.  He loves to help people and knows that the money he helps raise goes towards patient support.  Mario worked hard last year, calling and talking with people about walking or donating.  he worked extra chores for family members to raise money.  And he accepted cans and bottles from friends and family which he redeemed to donate those funds.  He had set a lofty goal of $2,000 last year and with the help of so many people the goal was exceeded.  Beyond that he captained a team of 28 walkers. 

Did I mention Mario does the work?  He thoughtfully asks people and explains why he is raising money for the Mary G. Gooley Hemophilia Center.  We hope you will join our family by donating to this very worthy bleeding center and/or coming out on Saturday, September 6 to walk with Mario's Lifesavers.  Your support to Mario and the hemophilia center means so much!
