Want to be a Student Champion?

The Arc of Essex County is looking for students in grades 3-12 to be Student Champions for our 27th Annual Building Tomorrows 5K Run, Walk , & Fun Fest on Saturday, April 26th, 2025 in West Orange, NJ

Champions are leaders in their schools and community. They are always willing to lend a helping hand, cheer people on, and lead. Champions will kick off the Building Tomorrows 5K Walk and be guests of honor for their dedication and hard work! They will help us spread the word about the 5K Run, Walk, and Fun Fest, and fundraising. Champions will gain skills that will help them become stronger leaders and give back to the The Arc’s community.

Apply to be a Student Champion by February 2nd, 2025. Champions will be notified February 7th.

Student Champion Responsibilities

  • Attend the 27th Annual Building Tomorrows 5K Run, Walk, and Fun Fest on Saturday, April 26th, helping to run an activity or craft at the Fun Fest.
  • Particpate in service/advocacy project led by The Arc of Essex County.
  • Teach Other About The Arc of Essex County's Mission.
  • Attend 2 Online Champion Meetings After-School.
  • Help Promote the 5K Run and Walk.
  • Recruit Team Members to your Run or Walk Team.
  • Lead Fundraising Efforts.
  • Promote Inclusivity and Positivity.
  • Be a Leader in Your School and Community.

Who Can Apply?

Students in grades 3 through 12 can apply to be Student Champions. We encourage students with disabilities or a connection to The Arc of Essex County's mission of empowering and advocacating for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to apply.

Applications are due on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at 11:59pm.
