As an emergency department physician in the Tampa Bay area, I have seen the tremendous value of the Child Life Specialists.  Their ability to help families navigate devastating trials and repeated obstacles is amazing.  They provide emotional support, help teach children about diagnoses and explain procedures at a developmentally appropriate level to reduce anxiety.  They provide much needed distraction with recreational activities both in and out of the hospital. Please join me in supporting the St. Joseph's Children's and South hospitals Child Life programs by contributing to the Christmas in July fundraiser.  Toys and funds will assist the Child Life Specialists in blessing hospitalized children and families of Tampa Bay.
