10 Steps to Cross the Finish Line: Your Guide to Fundraising for the Desert Pet Walk!
Step 1: Register at DesertPetWalk.org
- Visit DesertPetWalk.org
- Click "Register" to begin the sign-up process.
- Select your registration type (Ex., Registration + $100 Donation).
Step 2: Choose How You Want to Participate
- Select one of the following options:
- Join as an individual
- Join an existing team
- Start your own team (We strongly encourage this to maximize fundraising!)
- If starting a new team, name your team and set a fundraising goal.
Step 3: Set Up Your Personal Fundraising Page
- Customize your page with a personal story, a photo, and why you’re participating to encourage donations.
Step 4: Set a Fundraising Goal
- Determine how much you want to raise.
- Setting a goal gives donors a target to help you reach.
Step 5: Encourage Others to Get Involved
- As a team captain, use this time to complete a team of participants encouraging them to donate upon registration.
- Invite friends, coworkers, or family to register and join your team.
- The more participants, the bigger the impact!
Step 6: Reach Out for Donations
- Log into your fundraising dashboard and:
- Use pre-made email templates to contact friends, family, and coworkers.
- Send fundraising requests with your personal fundraising link via text messages.
- Share your personal fundraising link in messages.
- Copy your fundraising link, emails, or any text by clicking on this icon:
Step 6: Share on Social Media
- Post on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or LinkedIn.
- Example post:
- I’m raising funds for the Desert Pet Walk to help the Palm Springs Animal Shelter and Desert Wildlife Center! Join me or donate here: [Insert Your Fundraising Link]
Step 8: Track Your Progress
- Log in regularly to check donations and thank your supporters.
- Keep your donors updated on how close you are to your goal!
Step 7: Follow Up with Supporters
- If someone hasn’t donated, send a friendly reminder.
- Some people just need a second nudge to contribute!
