As a kid I remember trying on all my grandmas wigs, thinking how funny and cute they were. Little did I know my grandma was going through much more then I could have ever imagined. She survived, breast cancer and went on to live well into her 80s! Then in college my dad was also diagnosed with breast cancer, thankfully it was small and an easy surgery got rid of it. But this is when I started questioning how susceptible I was to getting the disease. I was diagnosed in 2016 with BRCA 2, and decided to have a full Bilateral masectomy as a percaution. I spent a year in and out of the hospital, working to get through it all. My mom and I had signed up for one of the last Star Wars themed races and I was running the Challage. Little did I know I wouldn't be able to train at all because my last surgery was one month before the race started! That was the hardest 19.1 I've ever done! But after hearing about charity bibs I knew I had to run with the Dragon Master Initiative! I know the stream line for research has helped so many doctors and surgeons better understand this disease, and I'm so happy to be apart of it and running with them this year!
