If you know me, you know I love dogs—and I believe with my whole heart in their power to change lives. That’s why every Wednesday morning, you can find me volunteering at Canine Companions for Independence, where I help the incredible team with everything from washing dog bowls and prepping treats to giving the dogs walks, playtime, and snuggles. I’ve also started fostering dogs in training to give them a little break from “school” and a taste of home life.
Canine Companions doesn’t just train dogs; they create life-changing partnerships. Their expertly trained service dogs empower children, adults, and veterans with disabilities to live with greater independence. These dogs open doors—literally and figuratively—and bring confidence, freedom, and unconditional love to the people who need it most.
On September 13, DogFest Long Island kicks off, and I am honored to be raising funds in support of Canine Companions’ mission. Every dollar goes directly toward providing these remarkable dogs to their partners completely free of charge.
As someone who’s been lucky enough to see the love and impact these dogs bring firsthand, I can tell you that your donation—no matter the size—will truly make a difference.
You all know my dog Anakin (the cutest rescue in the galaxy!), and I’ve long been passionate about giving back to dogs and the people they help. This cause is so close to my heart, and I would be beyond grateful for your support.
Can you help me reach my goal? Donate today and be part of the magic that happens when a dog and a person’s life change forever.
Thank you so much for cheering me on and for helping to make independence pawsible.
With gratitude (and a few tail wags),
Marissa & Anakin
