I'm fundraising for DogFest Washington DC 2025 in honor of our amazing service dog, Locke.

In October 2023, I was matched with my very first service dog through Canine Companions — and the impact has been life-changing.

As a disabled person, I know firsthand the daily challenges that come with mobility & vision impairments. But since meeting my four-legged partner, my world has opened up in ways we couldn't have imagined. My service dog retrieves items I drop, provides calming pressure during stressful moments like dental procedures, and can even bark on command when my AAC device freezes and I need help. These tasks may seem small, but to me, they mean independence, comfort, and connection.

We’re participating in DogFest DC not just because we love dogs (though we really do!), but because we believe deeply in the mission of Canine Companions — to provide expertly trained service dogs to people with disabilities completely free of charge.

Leading up to DogFest, we’re raising funds so more children, adults, and veterans can experience the same life-changing support I have. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to that goal.
