In 2023, I joined the Board of Elim Christian Services, a nonprofit organization that equips children and adults with disabilities to pursue their full potential by providing educational, vocational, and therapeutic services. Elim serves over 220 children and over 200 adults, and is comprised of Elim Christian Schools (teaching kids aged 3 to 22) and Elim Adult Services (which provides life skills development, vocational training, and community integration opportunities).  As a board member, I've seen first hand how Elim positively impacts the lives of children and families who so face so many challenges. My older brother, Rodney Abinoja, received many similar services growing up in St. Louis, where he attended special schools and currently lives in a group home setting.

In addition to being a recent supporter of Elim, I am also very new to running! I did not start running seriously until I reached 40, and I have less than a handful of 5K's under my belt. However, I've made regular exercise a priority, and I'm so pleased that I can combine my love of fitness with support for an extremely worthy cause.
