Over 40 years, Educational Video Center has built a large and vibrant community, one story at a time. Our community is our love, our resiliency, and our power. And now more than ever, EVC needs all that our community brings.
Like nonprofits everywhere, EVC is vulnerable. Our history of caring for and lifting up NYC youth and working-class communities. Teaching them documentary filmmaking provides a multifaceted learning experience - from understanding, researching, and communicating current social issues; reaching consensus and developing influencing skills with peers; using media to tell your story effectively and developing a means to earn income; giving and receiving support as part of an understanding and empathic community; developing public speaking skills and asking questions; the list goes on....
