On October 5th, I’ll be walking in my 4th Footsteps for Family Building Walk—my first as Co-Chair and my 4th year as part of the Walk Committee. In addition to helping plan this special event, it’s also my greatest privilege to have been an AllPaths peer support group leader for the past three years. This community means so much to me, and I walk for many reasons close to my heart: I’m walking for the family my husband and I worked so hard to create—and were lucky enough to complete last year. We couldn’t have built our family without IVF, and we’re incredibly grateful for our two sons. I walk because everyone deserves access to the incredible support, resources, and advocacy that AllPaths provides to the fertility and family building community. I walk to stand with and support those still in the thick of their journeys, and to remind them that they are not alone. I walk in celebration of the community that AllPaths has created because finding your people, the ones who truly “get it,” makes the hardest road a little lighter. The family building road can be long, difficult, and lonely. But on Walk day, you can see with your own eyes that none of us are alone. Every step and every dollar raised helps AllPaths continue its vital mission of supporting, educating, and advocating for all paths to parenthood.
