About The Helix School

The Helix School was founded in 2014 and is a leader in providing comprehensive, individualized, evidenced-base education for Bay Area neurodivergent individuals. Our mission is to guide neurodivergent individuals to lead fulfilling and connected lives.

Janet Miller: A Champion for Inclusion

For over two decades, Janet Miller has been a tireless advocate for individuals with disabilities, turning personal challenges into community-wide change. She founded It Takes a Village, a special education PTA, and later launched Project Awareness and Special Sports (PAASS), providing adaptive sports programs that foster inclusion, friendship, and understanding. Her leadership extended to the school board, where she fought for equal access to education for all students. Beyond education and sports, Janet has created programs like Thinking Pictures Coasters and Artists Without Boundaries, amplifying the voices of individuals with disabilities through art and storytelling. Her unwavering dedication has transformed lives, making the world more inclusive—one initiative at a time.

Kurt Iobst: A Leader in Neurodiversity Advocacy

Kurt Iobst is a passionate advocate for neurodiversity inclusion and empowerment, dedicated to breaking down barriers and fostering understanding. As the President and Founder of the Neurodiversity Abilityforce ERG at Salesforce, he champions workplace inclusivity, ensuring that neurodiverse individuals are celebrated for their unique strengths. A storyteller at heart, Kurt shares his journey as a late-diagnosed Autistic, using his background in education and technology to drive meaningful change. His advocacy has taken him to global stages, including the United Nations, CES, and Dreamforce, where he amplifies the voices of neurodiverse individuals. Through his leadership, he is shaping a more inclusive world—one conversation at a time.
