For those of you who remember learning about finances in high school—balancing a checkbook, understanding the importance of saving, and budgeting for expenses—you’ll know how valuable those lessons were. After working in the mortgage industry for 30 years, it’s clear that financial education is more important now than ever. We live in a world where instant gratification is the norm, and the line between needs and wants has become increasingly blurred.
That’s why I’m so passionate about Junior Achievement’s mission to equip young people with the knowledge and skills they need to make smart choices for their futures. Nationally, JA reaches more than 4.8 million students each year, and here in Oklahoma, 62,197 students benefit annually.
I absolutely love volunteering—helping to educate and connect with kids across the metro area is incredibly rewarding. Being asked to serve on the board was truly an honor. It means so much to be part of a group filled with such passionate, enthusiastic, and genuinely wonderful people.
