Rochester, New Hampshire

• Runners may pick up their bibs early on Friday, October 17th from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM at the James W. Foley Community Center.

• Day of Registration begins at 8:00 AM. The Race officially kicks off promptly at 10:00 AM.

• Please line up at the start according to your speed. There are volunteers to assist with this in the start area. Walkers please start towards the back.

• Strollers and dogs are allowed, however, we ask that you start at the back of the line, as to let the runners start first. 

• PLEASE follow arrows and cones along the run route - this is IMPORTANT. If you are unsure of the route, please take a printed map with you on run day. They are available at registration and check in. 

• Parking: There is plenty of free onsite parking which will open any time after 8:00 AM. There is also on street overflow parking as well as at the Lilac Mall and Downtown.

• Spectators can watch from anywhere on the course, with the best places being at the area of the start/finish or anywhere downtown.

• All day-of registration will be in paper form with a fee of $35. We recommend registering online today! Payment can be made via Cash, Check, Credit Card and Venmo.

• Remember to bring your ID if you are over the age of 21 and wish to have a free beer in the tent post race. We CANNOT serve those who do not have their valid identification. State and local laws and guidelines require JWFLF to strictly follow in order to continue to receive our liquor license for next year. Rochester PD will be on site to regulate the beer tent.

• Items will be available for sale including mugs, sweatshirts, long-sleeved shirts, old run shirts, etc. CASH is preferred but we take credit cards. American Mother book purchases available on-site. Diane Foley will sign books from 8:30 AM - 9:00 AM ONLY. 

• Kids Fun Run begins at 9:15 AM! The fun run will take place at the start flag, as the track is currently closed . Please be outside for instructions at 9:10 AM.

• Sponsors and local vendors will be on site inside the community center!

• We will be providing many different delicious snacks to our runners and spectators provided by sponsor Walmart. Other treats Include coffee from McDonalds, cider donuts and apples from McKenzie's Farm, Chips and Salsa from Margarita’s and Ice Cream from Strafford Farms!

• Music provided by the Thursday Afternoon Band!

• All NH Race winners (ranked by age groups) will receive a 2025 James W. Foley Freedom Mug. Additional prizes include:
  • 1st Place Overall (M/F): $100 Gift Card to the Old Ferry Landing in Portsmouth, NH
  • 2nd place Overall (M/F): $50 Gift Card to Cure Restaurant in Portsmouth, NH
  • 3rd - 8th place overall: $25 Gift Card to Marathon Sports

• Please be sure to collect your mug out front post race.

Washington, DC

• The Washington, DC James W. Foley Freedom Run/Walk 5K will take place at Anacostia Park.

• Anacostia Park encompasses 1,200 acres along the Anacostia River and has a river trail and other running paths that are well-marked for the 5K race. Potomac River Running has certified the racecourse with the USA Track and Field Association. The course will begin at 1500 Anacostia Drive, and is an “out and back” course, which is considered “flat and fast” by race enthusiasts.

• Day of Registration and Check in: 7:00 AM - 8:50 AM. Payment can be made via Credit Card and Venmo ONLY. We cannot accept checks or cash in Anacostia Park.

• Road closure into park: 7:40 AM. No vehicles will be allowed into the park after 7:30 AM unless they identify as being with our event - at the discretion of a detail officer. At 7:40 AM, no vehicles will be allowed to enter.

• Participants may not drive out of of the park until Anacostia Park Drive is reopened at 9:20 AM.

• We will be providing snacks and waters to all runners post race!

• All DC Race winners (ranked by age groups) will receive a 2025 James W. Foley Freedom Mug. Additional prizes include:
  • $25 Gift Card to Potomac River Running

• Nearest parking to race start is in the Roller Rink Parking Lot. If you arrive after the road closes, park at the “Pirate Ship Playground” and walk 0.5 mile to the start.

Directions:

• Take the John Philip Sousa Bridge = 295/Pennsylvania Avenue bridge.
• As you are coming off the bridge, take exit 2B State Highway 295N
• Merge onto State Highway 295
• Take exit 1A for Pennsylvania Avenue E
• Merge into Pennsylvania Avenue SE
• Then a quick right, almost immediate, onto Fairlawn Avenue SE
• In a block, at the Cube Smart Storage building, take a right onto Nicholson Street SE
• Turn right onto Anacostia Drive SE and the race site is about 0.2 miles, with parking off to the right.

Coming from North or West:

• Take the 11^th Street Bridge over the Anacostia
• Head Southeast on 11^th Street SE/Martin Luther king jr. Avenue SE
• Turn right onto Good Hope Road SE
• Turn right onto Anacostia Drive
• Destination is on the right in 0.3 miles

From South or West:

• Take the Frederick Douglass Bridge, leading to South Capitol Street SE
• At traffic circle, take 5^th exit to South Capitol Street SE
• At the next traffic circle, take the 3rd exit to onto Anacostia Drive SE
• Turn right onto Anacostia Drive
• Destination is about 1.9 miles on the right.
