Speech Outcomes in Neurogenic Disease: SONiC Lab Team
We are the SONiC Lab (https://soniclab.msu.edu/)! Our lab, directed by Dr. Thea Knowles (PhD, CCC-SLP), is located at Michigan State University in the Communicative Sciences and Disorders Department. Our research focuses on speech and voice challenges associated with neurodegenerative disease, with a primary focus on Parkinson's disease. We train students who are planning to pursue speech-language pathology and/or research careers in communication disorders.
We will have an informational table at this year's event providing educational information about communication and swallowing changes in Parkinson's, local speech-language pathology resources, and ways to participate in ongoing research. We will also be leading speech and voice exercise demos!
