Why I Walk

I walk for my best friend Alycia and her two daughters. Alycia and I met and became friends while working as labor and delivery nurses, and we saw the effects preeclampsia had on our patients; however, when my friend became pregnant and was admitted due to elevated blood pressures the experience became more personal. Although she had two beautiful outcomes following two pregnancies with preeclampsia, our hope is that someday our daughters can experience pregnancy and childbirth absent the threat of preeclampsia.
