Why I Walk
I walk in honor of Tyler Braden. On June 10, 2019 at 22 weeks I first learned what HELLP syndrome was, and on June 16, I painfully learned what it can take from us. That far into a pregnancy, while sick and quite literally dying in a hospital, should NOT have been the first time I or any woman learns about these conditions.
While I walk in honor of my angel son, I fundraise to help the foundation perform necessary research to improve care, outcomes, and early detection. I believe wholly that my & Tyler's outcome would have been different, had not only myself but my medical team been better informed. Increased awareness and early education for these conditions is critical for better outcomes for mothers and their babies.
I have participated in the Promise Walk virtually every year since my unforgettable encounter with HELLP Syndrome and I'm so thrilled to have a local event to attend in person for the first time! Please help me support the PreEclampsia Foundation and our DC Walk by donating today!
For Tyler.
