A stride towards safer pregnancies

There is not a single day in the clinic that I am not discussing or managing preeclampsia for someone who is at risk, had or has the condition. Preeclampsia is a leading cause of maternal and infant illness and death worldwide. Often developing after 20 weeks of pregnancy, it can lead to serious complications like stroke, organ damage, or preterm birth if not recognized early. Many people don't know the signs—such as high blood pressure, swelling, or severe headaches—until it's too late. Raising awareness empowers expectant parents to seek timely care, improves early detection, and can save lives.

Why I Walk Because There Is Hope

Raising awareness of preeclampsia can save lives by helping people recognize early warning signs like high blood pressure, swelling, and vision changes. When expectant parents and healthcare providers are informed, they can act quickly—leading to earlier diagnosis, proper monitoring, and timely treatment. This reduces the risk of severe complications, such as seizures, stroke, organ failure, or even death for both mother and baby. There is hope! Awareness leads to simple action, and action saves lives.
