In 2024 I was diagnosed with preeclampsia, which moved very quickly to preeclampsia with severe features. I was placed on bedrest and monitored very closely until we required transfer to a higher level of care and ultimately, a c-section. The diagnosis continued into the post partum period with multiple medications, and consistent monitoring.
Our birth story was challenging both mentally and physically for quite some time but we are forever grateful for those medical professionals that identified our risk and took it seriously. We have a beautiful baby girl as a result.
If our family had not experienced preeclampsia, We'd have never understood the gravity and complexity of the disease. We consider ourselves to be very fortunate, but also understand that not every family has the same experience and outcome.
We walk to honor all of the families who have experienced the disease and to help raise awareness for all of those who are to follow.
