My name is Shanika McClain and I am a survivor of Eclampsia x2. I remember laying listlessly in the hospital bed purging blood and praying to God to please let me hold my babies and go home. The feeling of knowing there is nothing you can do to fix your situation in a moment that is suppose to be so special, weighed me down. I remember the doctor telling me that my blood pressure numbers were stroke levels and until they go down I have to remain the hospital. It had gotten so bad to a point the doctor just completely stop telling me my reading. The hospital was now my new home and that was nothing I could do about it. Once I came home from the hospital, I knew that my new assignment to educate and provide awareness to other women who are pregnant or have suffered from Preeclampsia/Eclampsia.
