I am walking as a Post Preeclampsia Survior!
 

I gave birth to my second child, my baby girl, on November 29, 2019. Throughout my pregnancy I dealt with severe morning sickness my first trimester, a light   hemorrhage in my third month and placenta previa in month eight.  

Even after those little scares, I was blessed to have a smooth delivery ! I spent two days in the hospital and went home with a happy, healthy baby and a heart full of love. 

After only two days at home , I began to have horrible abdominal cramps, heavy bleeding and severe headaches during and after breast-feeding. So much so that I could not hold my baby girl.  Her aunt suggested that I go to ER because of the headaches . Thank God I went ! 

My blood pressure had skyrocketed, my anxiety was unbearable, and I was diagnosed with post-preeclampsia. I didn’t even know that was a thing until that moment. I was admitted, put on a magnesium drip and monitored for two days because of my blood pressure. I was at high risk for a stroke, and of course, during that time I could still barely hold my baby. 

My stay in the hospital was the scariest three days of my life. The only information I had to tell me what was going on was Google and WebMD so I’m sure you can imagine how that made me feel. The information was scarce and I ended up feeling so alone. 

I walk because, to this day,  I still have complications with my blood pressure , and I don’t want any mother having to go through the fear that I experienced, especially if it can be prevented.  The information is available ! Awareness is key!
