Why I Walk

Just a week before my due date, I thought I was going to the hospital with contractions—but it turned out to be severe pain coming from my liver as my body fought a rapid decline. I was diagnosed with HELLP syndrome, a life-threatening complication I had never even heard of until that day. Everything moved quickly, and while my delivery was terrifying, I was lucky: my daughter was healthy, and I eventually recovered.

But HELLP left lasting scars—on my health and in my heart. I walk because not everyone gets the outcome I did. I walk for the moms and babies who deserve better. I walk with hope for a future where HELLP doesn’t lead to tragedy, and no family has to suffer from its impact.
