Why I Walk
In January of 2021, my son, Luke, and I almost lost our lives due to countless seizures caused by Eclampsia. He was delivered via emergency c-section at 36 weeks.
In March of 2024, my daughter, Blakely, was delivered via emergency c-section at 36 weeks due to Preeclampsia with Severe Features, IUGR, and MVM.
Eclampsia caused medical complications that have changed my life forever, and that I still deal with to this day. If only the medical field had proper knowledge of Preeclampsia, then my “non-traditional” symptoms wouldn’t have been dismissed time and time again, and Luke and I wouldn’t have been on the brink of losing both of our lives from countless seizures (Eclampsia).
By spreading awareness, my hope is that other mothers and OBGYN’s alike can know the first symptoms, and respond with immediate action- BEFORE it turns into Eclampsia or fatality.
Over the last four years of sharing my story, other expecting mothers close to me have benefited from my experience, and have been able to advocate for themselves when noticing the first symptoms of Preeclampsia. Because of this, I have found purpose in my medical tragedy, and I will never stop sharing the importance of knowing the first signs.
