✨ Why I Walk — My Preeclampsia Story ✨

I walk for every mother, every baby, and every family affected by preeclampsia — because I’ve lived through it.

In 2021, I was pregnant with my daughter, Journee. My blood pressure had been completely normal my entire pregnancy, and my due date was May 12. I truly believed she’d arrive on Mother’s Day — but God had other plans.

Ten days overdue, I was induced. On May 22, 2021, my daughter was born via emergency c-section after a terrifying series of events. The baby’s sac had ruptured inside me, and when Journee was delivered, she came out code white — not breathing. A nurse, my angel in scrubs, performed CPR and brought her back.

As I lay open on the operating table, losing 1300ccs of blood, all I could think about was her surviving.

Journee spent several days in the NICU. I was discharged before her, and two days later, we finally brought our baby home. It was supposed to be a joyful moment — but just hours later, my legs were swollen, my blood pressure was climbing, and I ended up in the ER, leaving my newborn with my husband. I was readmitted and treated with a magnesium infusion. I was separated from my baby again.

And still — my blood pressure had been normal throughout my pregnancy.

Today, I’m walking for those who didn’t know the signs, for those still healing from their experience, and for those we’ve lost. I’m walking for Journee, and I’m walking for me — and I hope you’ll walk with us or put $5 on it to support the mission of the Preeclampsia Foundation.
