Why I Walk

I'm walking to raise awareness and support for those affected by preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. 

At 34 weeks into what had been a completely healthy pregnancy, I was suddenly diagnosed with HELLP syndrome, a condition I had never even heard of at the time. I had to undergo an emergency C-section to save both mine and Luca's lives that same night.

Many people have never heard of HELLP syndrome until it's too late, unfortunately. We are walking to help fund research, spread awareness, and support of other families facing this same scary journey. 

This walk is for Luca, but also for the mothers and babies who are still fighting, and for those who did not get as lucky as us. With more research comes more awareness and better preparation for women during pregnancy.
