Oh What Fun it is to run the Santa Dash this year!!!
I have been a volunteer with BIG Love Cancer Care since June 2012, making weekly visits to the amazing kiddos and their families at Texas Children's Hospital (and an occasional visit at MD Anderson). The kids and the families I am privileged to serve fill my heart. I'm happy to bring a smile. With that being said, we can't "make a difference" without support from donors like you. Please consider a donation to my page.
52 weeks a year
Volunteering can be like a fulltime job and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I block off Wednesdays and Fridays for regular shifts (delivering snacks, toys, and HEB meals). I'm ocassionally asked to deliver to MD Anderson and love seeing the kids, families, and the staff. The staff makes our shifts even better by helping us know a little about their patients and what their needs might be. Nurses and doctors don't just provide the needed medical care, they are also supporting the emotional needs of the kids and parents. Sometimes, mom or dad is at the hospital with their kiddos for weeks on end. We might be the only other adults (besides medical staff) they see. BIG Love families are "our" families.
Hannah and I were representing BIG Love at the annual Go Gold parade at Texas Children's Hospital. I wish you could have seen the smiles on the kids (you can probably find them on the TCH FB page).
