A little over a year ago, I started meeting up with the local F3 groups here in Charleston SC. F3 has a term, CSAUP - for Completely Stupid and Utterly Pointless, which generally gets associated to any ridiculous, long, or grueling physical event. These are great opportunities to test your physical and mental toughness, and the best for bonding with others as they sweat through the challenge beside you.
I turn 40 years old this Halloween, October 31st and for some time I've been wanting to find a way to celebrate the occasion, but also to push myself, test my physical ability, and perhaps try and convince myself I'm not getting older (I am). So for my own CSAUP event, I decided to run 40 miles around West Ashley, downtown Charleston and ending at Folly Beach. I've never run anywhere close to this amount before, but I look forward to the challenge, and hopefully the sweet, sweet satisfaction of completing something that I didn't think I could do.
And now, I feel driven to make this less Pointless. I would like to use this effort as an opportunity to help raise money for Lowcountry Food Bank, an organization that supports adults, seniors, veterans and children that face food insecurity. These are our neighbors, our families and our friends. Any amount that you can contribute to the food bank has an amazing impact - thank you for supporting their cause, and for helping me give this run a point!
