So, here's the thing. I've spent the last two years naming my pledge page after #WindowFilm when I got suspended by the former terror who was our shelter director and then another fundraiser so I wouldn't get suspended for 30 days for my next infraction. But all that is over!
Friends of DACC is proud to announce that DACC has a new, progressive, experienced director named Rachel Williams! Not only has she not suspended me, she even gave me WRITTEN PERMISSION to take down a panel of window film in my office like I tried to before. My co-worker videoed the process. It was a lot harder when not fueled by rage!
Friends of DACC is also proud to announce that DACC has an amazing, homegrown senior veterinarian named Dr. Marcy McKeithen! She got to dive in head first and tackle an outbreak of Step zoo. in her first two weeks, which is contagious to other dogs AND HUMANS. Talk about trial by fire!
Friends of DACC is also proud to announce that DACC has returned Officer Renena McCaskill back to Shelter Operations Manager for good. She remains involved as the Founder of Friends of DACC and her leadership and compassion are what drives both organizations forward.
Along with the historic election of Detroit's first black woman mayor, Mary Sheffield, it is an amazing opportunity to have a black woman as our director, a black woman as our senior vet, and a black woman as our shelter manager. It is truly a new time at DACC and Friends of Detroit Animal Care and Control is ecstatic to support them. And you should be too!
