This January is my 8th time taking on the Dopey Challenge—a test of endurance that involves running a 5k, 10k, half marathon, and full marathon on consecutive days. I run all the Disney races with Dragon Master Initiative. I am proud to be running this Dopey Challenge with Amanda.
Why Dragon Master Initiative? Before COVID we met Amanda Haddock at the finish line tents. She shared her story about her son David. When he was 16 he was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme, brain cancer. During his treatment, it became apparent that different hospitals and treatment centers were essentially silos. Amanda discovered a severe frustration in the cancer research community - a lack of resources to share medical research data between doctors and researchers. David asked her to cure cancer in her lifetime and that is the goal of Dragon Master Initiative.
I fundraise for Dragon Master Initiative because I want to be a part of a charity that is a team working together to accomplish our goals and making a difference in medical research. Dragon Master Initiative is rewriting the rules of medical research by fostering collaboration and connectivity among treatment centers and researchers.
How They’re Changing the Game:
Data Sharing Revolution: Dragon Master Initiative connects hospitals nationwide, breaking down silos. They’re creating a seamless network where quality research data flows freely. Imagine doctors and scientists sharing insights across borders, accelerating progress.
Speeding Up Trials: By streamlining data access, they’re reducing the time it takes for clinical trials. Faster trials mean quicker breakthroughs in detection and treatment methods.
Pediatric Brain Cancer Focus: Their initial mission centers on pediatric brain cancer, but their ripple effect extends far beyond. Patients with other rare cancers and diseases will benefit from their groundbreaking work.
