Combining 4.5 years in labor & delivery with lived experience as a Black mother, I'm advocating for the research, education, and support systems that make pregnancy safer for everyone.
Why I Walk
I walk because I've seen maternal health from both sides of the hospital bed. As a labor and delivery nurse, I helped deliver hundreds of babies and witnessed how quickly complications like preeclampsia can turn dangerous, especially for Black mothers who are three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes.
Then I became a patient myself, surviving an ectopic pregnancy, miscarriages, navigating IVF, and severe postpartum depression. That journey showed me the gaps in our maternal care system aren't just statistics; they're real women who deserve better. I walk to fund the research, education, and support that transforms outcomes, because every mother deserves to come home safely to her family.
