I walk because preeclampsia became part of my postpartum recovery story.
What should have been a time focused solely on healing and soaking in my baby quickly turned into hospital stays, medications, and monitoring my blood pressure. Instead of just recovering from birth, I was navigating a serious and unexpected complication.
As a birth worker, I educate families about conditions like this, but living it myself was humbling in a completely different way.
Preeclampsia doesn’t discriminate. It can affect healthy, informed, prepared moms. It can develop during pregnancy or even after birth. It can escalate quickly. And it can be life threatening.
I walk in gratitude because I am here.
I walk because my baby is here.
I walk for the mothers who did not get the outcome I did.
I walk so more families recognize the signs sooner.
I walk so research, education, and advocacy continue to grow.
This is more than a walk for me. It is awareness. It is prevention. It is hope. It is a testimony of survival and strength.
If this cause speaks to you, I would love for you to join my team and walk alongside me. If you are not able to join, please consider making a donation to support research, education, and advocacy for families affected by preeclampsia.
Thank you for supporting this mission and standing with me.
