With the birth of my first child, Zende, 8Â years ago, I developed severe preeclampsia. Eclampsia is seizures that lead to death. Preeclampsia is the precurser to that. Prior to my pregnancy with Zen, I had heard of preeclampsia, but I did not have a full understanding of what it was, sign and symptoms, and how to advocate for myself if I noticed any of those signs and symptoms. Simply put, I was blessed that my team at Kaiser caught it when they did and were proactive about my care. There are so many other women in this country who don't get that level of care, and who don't have this information.
When I decided to dive into the realm of women's health, that forced me to look deeper at the different diseases that can plague us during pregnancy and postpartum. Then I found the Preeclampsia Foundation, and was able to see the efforts that they are putting into getting the research done, and spreading the word. I discovered they host Promise Walks (like Breast Cancer walks), and I wanted to join one, only to find out that there were none be hosted in the STATE of California. It fizzled out right before covid, and no one ever picked up the batton... until now.
Last year (2025), we brought the walk to LA (in Culver City) and we're keeping it going, to bring awareness and raise funds for this extremely important cause. I'm reaching out to you, because, not only does every dollar count, but so does every person to pitch in and help me bring this to life. I'm putting together committees, I'm putting together teams, I'm hoping to bring together community to give life to this foundation in LA.
If you can donate, please do!
