As men of color that service the local community in and around the Somerset area, we support the Somerset Promise Walk to help raise money for research and awareness for Preeclampsia.  As husbands, fathers, uncles, brothers and sons we understand the importance of supporting the women in our lives.  We also walk to show support and solidarity for our Brother Johari Powell and Silhouette Trashaun Powell as they turn their past pain into purpose.  After losing a daughter due to premature birth cause by the sudden onset of preeclampsia, the Powells use their passion to raise awareness of Preeclampsia, the serious disease related to high blood pressure during pregnancy that takes the lives of 76K mothers and 500K babies each year worldwide.  This event has become one of the signature social action initiatives for our chapter.
