As background on our event, Wednesday, June 17, 2026, near the summer solstice, we are hosting our annual Raise a Racket - to fight Dementia event at Lochmere tennis/pickleball courts in Cary, NC. This event is being held in honor and memory of so many lost and struggling family and friends with dementia in our community. All funds raised will be donated to benefit Dementia Alliance of North Carolina which funds education, research, respite care and family support in our area.
2026 will be our ninth, and last year co-hosting this event. We have been touched that so many have found this event to be a positive way to support those patients and families struggling with a dementia diagnosis. We both know firsthand the slow progression and loss of independence and identity that comes with Alzheimer’s disease, the leading cause of dementia. We are committed to supporting others struggling at such a difficult time and to honor those we have lost. Once a year, we come together as a community to enjoy wonderful tennis and pickleball with old friends and new while raising awareness and funds to support better outcomes in the future for families and patients with dementia.
Please note: There will not be a rain make-up date in the event the courts are unplayable June 17th.
