One Kidney, One Canyon, One Mission

In 2016, I gave my dad one of my kidneys. I thought I was giving him a second chance at life. I never imagined how profoundly that decision would change mine. Becoming a living kidney donor taught me that donating an organ doesn't mean living a smaller life. In many ways, it became the beginning of a much bigger one. Since donating, I have run 25Ks, traveled to Guatemala and summited volcanoes, and taken on adventures I once might have thought were impossible. Then, in 2024, I faced my greatest climb yet when I traveled to Africa with Kidney Donor Athletes and stood on the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Every adventure has carried the same message: living kidney donors can live incredibly full, strong, adventurous lives. Now I'm taking on another challenge, hiking Rim to Rim through the Grand Canyon with Kidney Donor Athletes. But this one is different. My dad passed away last year, so I'll be carrying him with me every step of the way. The kidney I gave him became part of our story, and losing him didn't end that story. It gave me an even deeper reason to keep telling it. I'll hike in honor of my dad, in gratitude for the years we were given, and for every living donor who has wondered what life looks like on the other side of donation. I'll hike for the person considering becoming a donor who needs to see that you can donate a kidney and still run races, climb volcanoes, summit mountains, cross canyons, travel the world, and live a big, adventurous life. That's the mission of Kidney Donor Athletes: changing the perception of what is possible after living organ donation and inspiring more people to consider giving the extraordinary gift of life. Every donation helps carry that mission farther. This canyon is for Dad. And every step is for the next donor who needs to know what's possible.

I'm raising money for Kidney Donor Athletes, Inc.!

I’m incredibly proud to be participating in the 2026 Rim-to-Rim Challenge in support of Kidney Donor Athletes. This challenge is deeply personal to me. As a living kidney donor, I know firsthand that donation doesn’t have to limit the life you live. I’m taking on the Grand Canyon to help show what is possible after donation and to honor my dad, the reason this journey began in the first place.

I would love your help carrying this mission across the canyon with me.

Donate: Every gift, no matter the amount, supports Kidney Donor Athletes and its mission to demonstrate what is possible after living donation, inspire future donors, and raise awareness about the life-changing impact of living organ donation.

Share: If you can’t donate, or even if you can, please share my page. The more people who hear these stories, the farther this mission reaches.

Thank you for supporting me, Kidney Donor Athletes, and a cause that has become such an important part of my life. Every mile through the Grand Canyon will have meaning, and I’m incredibly grateful to have you along for the journey.

This canyon is for Dad. The mission is for every donor who comes next.
