I'm raising money for Choroideremia Research Foundation!
My name's Drew! I'm back and proudly running with Team CHM in the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 1st, to benefit the Choroideremia Research Foundation!
Choroideremia (CHM) is an x-linked inherited retinal disorder that causes progressive vision loss, ultimately leading to complete blindness. CHM is considered a rare disease because it only affects an estimated 1 in 50,000 individuals, including my grandfather, my great uncle, my cousin, and myself.
Since I was young, I've had to make habits of some things that others have not needed to. When I was growing up (and even to this day), it took my eyes much longer to adjust from light to darkness and as such, I've had to carry a flashlight around with me pretty much all my life. Though having flashlights on our phones nowadays has definitely helped, there is still the need to bring a flashlight out in dark and dimly lit areas when others of my age have not needed to.
But all this has in no way doused the flame of hope! The exciting news is that progress has been made and continues to be made through research. Though there are currently no treatment options or a cure for CHM, I know there is something good just over the horizon and that can be found through research and spreading awareness. Your support will help to fund research and education to help put an end to CHM!
Every donation—big or small—helps me reach my fundraising goal and directly impacts this important cause.
Here's how you can help:
