Hello!

My name is Madelyn Troy, and I'm a fourth-year Finance major with minors in Accounting and Leadership in Global Sustainability. I'm from Houston, TX, and outside of Texas 4000, I love to travel, go to concerts, and explore new coffee shops! Thank you for taking the time to read this page and learn more about Texas 4000.

Why I Ride

At the age of 12, I became an author. While it would be pretty cool to say, "You can find me on the shelves," my claim to fame isn’t what you might expect. Instead, I am referreing to was an 18-page research book (decorated with pictures, of course) that my peers and I had the opportunity to write in our 6th grade English class. While my friends wrote about their favorite animals or countries they dreamed of visiting, I wrote about Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer, dedicated to my aunt, who had just rung her bell.

I share this story because cancer has loomed in my life for as long as I can remember. From family members to friends who feel like family, I have watched cancer steal livelihoods and, in some cases, the lives of those I love. Sadly, it’s an experience many of us share.

That is why I will ride.

I will ride because I have witnessed resilience in its purest form in the face of cancer, and I want to carry that same strength with me on the journey from Austin to Alaska. I will ride to honor the battles fought, to listen and learn, and to forge deep connections rooted in love and support. I will ride to endure, to encourage, and to push the boundaries of what I believe is possible, just as those I ride for have had to do, without a choice.
