I ride for all the lives cancer has touched. Having supported a family member through cancer, I understand the importance of strength, community, and hope in difficult moments.

In 2019 my nana was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. I watched the unapologetically bold woman, who had shaped my childhood summers, undergo a series of invasive surgeries and harsh treatments. Even when our family couldn’t be in India to support her, she showed unwavering resilience. I understood the importance of community as neighbors showed incredible kindness, taking her to appointments and helping care for her. I also witnessed the life-altering power of medicine, as Dr. Ashwin, her oncologist, guided us through that difficult time and made us feel seen and heard every step of the way.

After chemotherapy, colostomy surgery and eventually reversal, my nana beat cancer and is now in remission. I recognize how fortunate my family is. My time in India has shown me how critical preventative care and access to treatment are, resources many people still lack. 

Cycling across America with Texas 4000 is not just a personal challenge. It’s about being a source of support for those who are vulnerable and experiencing some of the hardest moments in their lives. It’s about sharing stories and raising awareness for life-changing research and medical care. No one should have to battle cancer alone.

While I know the year ahead will be a physical and mental challenge, I look forward to connecting with people across the country and making an impact on those in need.
