Who is Texas Humane Heroes and what do we do?

Texas Humane Heroes (TXHH) is a private, nonprofit, No Kill 501(c)(3) organization that has been saving lives and creating families since 1979. For more than 45 years, we've partnered with shelters across Texas to rescue dogs and cats at risk of euthanasia, provide affordable veterinary care, and help families keep the pets they love.

Our mission is simple: to end pet homelessness and keep pet ownership affordable.

We achieve that mission through three core initiatives:

• Life-Saving Rescue: Giving dogs and cats with nowhere else to go the second chance they deserve by rescuing them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia.
• High-Volume Adoptions: Finding loving homes for thousands of dogs and cats each year.
• Affordable Veterinary Care: Providing low-cost spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, microchipping, wellness care, heartworm treatment, and other essential services that help families care for their pets.
• Pet Retention Programs: Offering resources and support that keep pets with the people who love them and prevent unnecessary shelter surrenders.

Beyond the pets in our care, we work alongside rescue organizations throughout Texas and support foster-based rescues nationwide by providing access to affordable veterinary services for their foster animals. Every adoption, surgery, vaccine, and rescue partnership moves us closer to a future where every pet has a safe, loving home.
