Cancer took my Mom and Dad and shook my world before showing up at my door in 2024. I felt anger, pain, fear, desperation and an overpowering sadness. I fought that sadness with all I had and focused on anger and defiance. I was not going to go down, not yet. I was not done living. Two days after successful surgery, a pulmonary embolism tried to take the life I fought so hard for and again I fought the sadness. I fought my way back for myself, my family, my friends, and because I wanted to fight this beast with all I had.

I walk for the loved ones I have lost, the amazing people who are fighting every moment of every day and the people who support them on their journey. I walk to encourage myself and others to be your own advocate, to gain knowledge which is power in this battle, to show yourself and others grace. I walk for everyone who picks up the destruction cancer leaves behind and builds something stronger, something more resilient, something shiny and sparkly to light up the way and reflect the sun that is still shining for all of us. No one has a crystal ball to show us what is before us, but every step ahead of us is worth fighting for, worth believing in and worth living for. So be this tough little diamond, be strong and sparkle! 

As for the Wellness House they were a lifeline to me and everyone I met helped me on my journey and paved my way to recuperation! They are truly amazing!

Wellness House provides complete cancer care - every step of the way. Whether you have cancer, or you are caring for a friend or family member who is diagnosed with cancer, all are welcome at Wellness House. More than 520 programs are provided each month, both online and in person, to improve physical and emotional well-being and give people with cancer a support network like no other. 

Because of the Walk, and the generous donations of individuals and businesses, everything at Wellness House is provided free of charge, providing one less thing to worry about when struggling with a cancer.
