Running Toward Magic: My TeamQCP Journey!
HOT DOG! It's going to be a MAGICAL birthday celebration! This January, I'll be turning 44 and hitting the pavement for the 2026 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend as part of TeamQCP – and I couldn't be more Goofy with excitement!
After 8 incredible years at QCP, I've witnessed firsthand the pure magic this organization brings to the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, ages 3 to 98. From breakthrough moments to everyday victories, QCP truly makes dreams come true – and now it's my turn to help make their dreams possible too!
My running journey began last summer when I was completely lured by runDisney's Snack Series (let's be honest, that Dole Whip medal had me at "hello"!). Since starting my healthy living adventure in March 2024, I've completed 16 runDisney virtual 5Ks (currently training for the Muppets' 12Ks of Christmas because, well, it's time to play the music and run!), crushed my personal record by 12 minutes (now at 48 minutes!), lost over 90lbs and just finished my first in-person runDisney event at Disney's Wine & Dine in October.
But this isn't just about collecting those epic medals (though they ARE pretty amazing!). As a die-hard Disney fan, Walt Disney World holds a special place in my heart – it's where Melani and I got engaged by Cinderella's fountain, announced our pregnancy, and where we return each year to celebrate where our love story began. Now I'm adding a new chapter: running through the most magical place on Earth at dawn, high-fiving my favorite characters, and most importantly, raising funds for the incredible individuals QCP serves.
Every dollar helps me reach my goal – because just like Walt said, "It's kind of fun to do the impossible," and with your support, we can make the impossible happen for my QCP family!
