When I was 21 my mother was diagnosed with cancer. She was young at only 51 the doctors made a plan of intense chemo and radiation therapy to shrink the tumor. I decided to move home and everday would take my mother to her treatment which was an hour away and then go to work, and my father would get home and take care of her at night. She ended up having surgery and thought she was cancer free to find out a few months later it was back. She passed at 52 in May of 2012 surrounded by family and loved ones. I say this because so many of us have a story about someone we love fighting the cancer battle and I decided I wanted to help fight that battle by racing money for a charity. I am running the Disney Princess Fairytale challenge this year in honor of my mother and to help raise money so that one day other familys may not have to go through the lose of a loved one to cancer.
