Hello, I'm Silje.
I'm 32 years old, originally from Tromsø in northern Norway, and now living in Zürich, Switzerland. I'm not a professional athlete, just someone with a regular full-time job, a passion for running, and a fascination with mental training that eventually led me to become a Certified Mental Trainer & Coach. What started as exercise has become one of the most important ways I take care of myself, physically and mentally.
My Story
Mental health has been an important part of my own journey. Like many people, I've had my own struggles, and there were times when life felt incredibly heavy. Along the way, I learned that taking care of myself wasn't about one single thing. It was about asking for help when I needed it, learning more about myself, and finding healthy ways to cope.
Through those experiences, I discovered how powerful movement could be. Running became a space where I could think, breathe, process my thoughts, and often come home feeling lighter than when I left. It didn't solve everything, but it became one of the ways I learned to take care of myself.
One memory I often think back to is during COVID. I was living alone in a small apartment in Oslo while everything was closed, and most people were working from home. I bought a pair of running shoes with spikes and started heading out in temperatures as low as -15°C, something I never imagined I'd do. Looking back, those runs became something I truly relied on. They reminded me how powerful simply getting outside and moving could be.
Through my own experiences, I became fascinated by the connection between mindset, movement, and mental well-being. That curiosity inspired me to become a Certified Mental Trainer and Coach. I wanted to better understand how our mindset shapes the way we think, feel, and perform, and how we can build resilience, not only in sport, but in everyday life.
After completing several half marathons, I crossed the finish line of my first marathon in 2026. On March 7, 2027, I'll stand on the start line of the Tokyo Marathon, but this time, I'm running for something bigger than my own finish time.
I'm raising $8,000 for Still I Run, an organization that believes movement can play a powerful role in supporting mental well-being and works to make running welcoming and accessible to everyone.
