My husband learned of Dragon Master Initiative during the 2025 Wine and Dine Weekend at Disneyworld in Orlando last October.  In March of 2025, my husband had lost his best friend and confidant to cancer.  We met up with Dragon Master Initiative again this January at the 2026 Dopey Challenge.  After completing the 5k and 10k races, I had to drop out the morning of the Half Marathon due to an injury.  It was heart breaking to know the year of training was lost.  As devastated and in tears walking back to the car that morning, I know it would never compare to families going through the heartbreak of losing family and friends to cancer.

I am hoping to run the 2027 Dopey Challenge again, this time for Dragon Master Initiative.  Their team was so kind and supportive through my tears that I would be honored and grateful to help with their fight against cancer.  For 4 sleep deprived days and 48.6 miles, I will be running for Dragon Master Initiative’s Team Fired Up, in memory of family and friends that have been affected by cancer, for my husband (my one man support staff) and of course, for a little redemption.
