In January, I’ll run 48.6 miles in four days as part of the Dopey Challenge.

Four races. Early mornings. Miles that will test my body and my mindset.

But the truth is, the miles I run are nothing compared to what children with pediatric brain cancer and their families face every day.

While I don’t have a direct personal connection to pediatric brain cancer, I have had friends battle brain cancer. Watching people I care about go through that fight showed me how devastating this disease can be—and how desperately we need better treatments and more research.

That’s why I’m running to support the Dragon Master Initiative.

The Dragon Master Initiative is dedicated to funding research and accelerating progress toward cures for pediatric brain cancer. Every step forward in research means more hope for children and families facing the unimaginable.

When my legs are tired during training…

When the alarm goes off before sunrise…

When race weekend pushes me farther than I thought I could go…

I’ll remember that the kids fighting this disease don’t get to stop when things get hard.

So I’ll keep running.

Because every mile I run is for something bigger than a race.
