Running With Grace
Why I Run for Team Fired Up
I’m running the 2027 Walt Disney World Dopey Challenge again. This time with a goal to raise $2,400 for the Dragon Master Initiative. I’m a 35-year-old Dad, therapist, and runner who discovered during my 2026 Dopey that training isn’t just about miles. I appreciate the importance of tending to my physical and mental health, and finding purpose in every step.
Dragon Master works to find and accelerate cures for cancers and rare diseases by fostering collaboration and innovation. While cures are pursued, they also spread awareness and improve quality of life for patients and families. These efforts are why I am proud to work to create a healthier future for all kids.
Why $2,400? That amount helps power the tools and partnerships that make research faster and more equitable. For me, every donation is a direct trade-off: calories burned for hope gained. I run not just to be healthier physically and mentally, but to give something back each mile to families who need breakthroughs sooner.
A little about me: I have two kids, a soft spot for Disney, and a belief that small acts add up. Your donation, share, or encouraging message will keep me moving across that finish line and help Dragon Master move research forward. Thank you for joining me on this run toward cures.
Why "Running with Grace"?
My sister Sarah Grace Lydia McCullagh passed away 1999 due to a congenital heart defect when she was 17. I was 9 years old when it happened and spent many years working to try and find understanding and process the grief I have carried since. Since then I have found my way through life looking to impart assistance and help to those around me in any small way I can.
I am fortunate enough to have been able to become a therapist and be able to work with individuals on a one to one basis. I recognize however that mental health care is not just processing emotions through talk therapy but also involves working on using our bodies. I have found running as my outlet and have put many a miles on my feet since then.
For 2 consecutive years I have run the year in miles and worked very hard to accomplish my running goals inside of that from PR'ing across most race distances to running my first ultra in 2025. Running has allowed me to look at the world with the perspective of Grace. I take what happens in the world and do my best to be accepting and intentional in my effort to assist others through it.
