My name is Nick! I was 11 years old, I was playing baseball, basketball and swimming! I was losing energy, I was losing weight and I felt like I was losing at everything! Then came the diagnosis, “You’re A Type 1 Diabetic”! I vowed from that day, I have diabetes, but diabetes will never have me! I was released from the hospital on a Thursday, and found my way to the pitchers mound that Saturday! I refused to let the disease win, I am in control! My parents were scared, my family was afraid, but I needed to let them know that my job is to do all the things I love to do, show the world and the diabetes community that everything is possible! So here I am today, will you help me? I want kids like me to go to diabetes camp and learn more about how they can make all of their dreams come true, even with such an ugly disease. The camp surrounds you with love and the many tools to living with the disease. The camp provides different resources for the many lifestyles and challenges, making daily routines effortless and boosts the confidence necessary for every day life. And, I will be your camp counselor this year, yes, I made that a goal and here I am.   There is no such thing as a small donation, every little bit counts in the life of a diabetic.  This I know, I’ve been there four years in a row, and they’ve given me the support I needed to get this far in sharing my own story!
