I am thrilled to spotlight the Lighthouse Orientation & Mobility Program this year for the Spring Campaign!

The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc. is dedicated to empowering individuals who are blind
or DeafBlind to live independent and fulfilling lives.

The Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Program at the Lighthouse provides more than just
skills; it offers the gift of independence. It’s the transformative experience of learning to
navigate a world that seems unfamiliar, to walk with purpose, to step into a future
without barriers

With the guidance of the expert instructors at the Lighthouse, employees can adapt and
begin to feel comfortable navigating with confidence. They learn to move through
bustling streets and neighborhoods, maneuver in their own homes and workspaces, and
to use tools like white canes, dog guides, and other advanced technology tools. This
isn’t just about physical movement - it’s about reclaiming one’s independence.

Your generous gifts to the O&M program let the Lighthouse to provide, adapt, and expand this life-changing program to those who need it most. Your gift fuels the tools, the training, and the trust that
empowers individuals to live on their own terms.

A gift of $125 covers the cost of a training session for someone who needs help
learning a route to the bus stop, or to the grocery store. It covers the cost of working
one-on-one with an instructor to develop a safe route to work, or to navigate within the
workplace safely and independently.
