1 year ago, we had no idea that we'd be in the midst of a full-blown international health pandemic. 7yrs ago, I also had no idea that I would discover I had a brain tumor... yet here we are.
Life has the undeniable and unavoidable ability to throw unexpected and unnerving curveballs our way, stopping us dead in our tracks. We can't always control the OUTCOME but we can control our OUTLOOK.
On Sept 9, 2014, I made the intentional decision to choose FAITH over FEAR, enduring a 13hr craniotomy to have a Grade II atypical benign meningioma successfully removed at the UCHEALTH Medical Center, under the amazing care of Neurosurgeon Dr. Mario Zuccarello. At that moment, I went from PATIENT to SURVIVOR! And upon learning about the "Walk Ahead for a Brain Tumor Cure 5K" one month later, I was transformed from SURVIVOR to ADVOCATE!
From that day to this day, I have taken every opportunity to be a VOICE for the VOICELESS, speaking UP & speaking OUT, sharing the stories & issues within and affecting the brain tumor community, that often go unheard. It is in those many precious moments, I realized there was divine PURPOSE to my PAIN!
I'm so excited that we will be back in Cincinnati this year on SUN OCT 17TH at Sawyer Point Park! The VIRTUAL option is also available again, so you can be a part of my team NEAR or FAR! I'm challenging myself to raise $1000 of my $2500 goal this year!
