Why I am Running for Queens Centers for Progress ...
Running the TCS NYC Marathon has been a dream of mine since 2013, when I watched a friend run it and felt the magic of the race. I never imagined I’d actually run a marathon myself, but here I am—taking on this challenge for a cause that means so much to me.
I started running over a decade ago. A few years later it became painful. I carried extra weight, and it was too hard on my body. During the pandemic, I decided to take control of my health. With the help of some tools and hard work, I lost 90 pounds and rediscovered my love for running. Since then, I’ve completed six half marathons, many of them alongside a friend I met on TikTok. We keep each other motivated by signing up for races that push our limits—this marathon is no exception!
I’m honored to be running for Queens Centers for Progress (QCP) because their mission is personal to me. One of my sons was recently diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and organizations like QCP have been invaluable in helping families like mine navigate the journey. QCP serves over 1,500 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, offering education, job training, housing, and support to help them live full, independent lives.
This race is even more meaningful because November 2 is my late brother’s birthday. Running 26.2 miles through NYC on that day will be an emotional and powerful tribute to him.
I would love your support in helping me reach my fundraising goal for QCP! Every donation, big or small, makes a difference in the lives of those they serve. Thank you for believing in me and in this incredible organization. See you at the finish line!
